Setting up your Clover Compact

The Clover Compact is the countertop card terminal Arca provides — a compact device with a physical PIN keypad, a built-in receipt printer, and tap, chip and swipe. This guide covers loading the printer roll, an optional PIN privacy shield, and powering it on.

What's in the box

Note: Connections sit on the back: power, USB-C, Ethernet, and an LTE slot. The Compact connects over Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet, or mobile (LTE).

Set it up in 3 steps

1

Load the printer roll

Open the printer cover, drop in the 40 mm roll so the paper feeds out the top, then close the cover with a little paper sticking out.

2

Connect power

Plug the power cable into the power port on the back of the terminal.

3

Plug in last, and power on

Connect to a grounded AC outlet last. The terminal powers on automatically — follow the on-screen prompts.

Tip: The Compact uses small 40 mm (1.5 in) receipt rolls — keep a few spares on hand at the register.

Add the PIN privacy shield (optional)

If your Compact came with a PIN shield, it adds privacy while customers enter their PIN:

  1. Peel the protective film off the shield.
  2. Press it firmly into place around the keypad.

Care & safety

Important: Ignoring these precautions can cause equipment damage or create a safety hazard.
