Setting up your Clover Compact
The Clover Compact is the countertop card terminal Arca provides — a compact device with a physical PIN keypad, a built-in receipt printer, and tap, chip and swipe. This guide covers loading the printer roll, an optional PIN privacy shield, and powering it on.
What's in the box
- Clover Compact (model C801) — the card terminal.
- Power adapter with cable.
- Receipt paper — a 40 mm (1.5 in) thermal roll.
Set it up in 3 steps
Load the printer roll
Open the printer cover, drop in the 40 mm roll so the paper feeds out the top, then close the cover with a little paper sticking out.
Connect power
Plug the power cable into the power port on the back of the terminal.
Plug in last, and power on
Connect to a grounded AC outlet last. The terminal powers on automatically — follow the on-screen prompts.
Add the PIN privacy shield (optional)
If your Compact came with a PIN shield, it adds privacy while customers enter their PIN:
- Peel the protective film off the shield.
- Press it firmly into place around the keypad.
Care & safety
- Use a grounded outlet, and plug into power last.
- Use it indoors. The terminal's 5 GHz Wi-Fi is intended for indoor use only.
- Don't disassemble or modify the terminal or its adapter.
